In Texas, mass incarceration is devastating families and communities, disproportionately impacting women and people of color, while costing the state billions. At Gateway Alliance Project, we envision a community where every individual has access to opportunities that foster financial independence and end permanent punishments.
Our mission at GAP is to enhance rehabilitation, reduce recidivism, and support safe and healthy communities through re-entry programs and wrap-around services for formerly incarcerated individuals. We advocate for alternative solutions that promote individual and community wellbeing beyond traditional punitive measures.

Pathways2Empowerment
The Gateway Alliance Project’s Pathways to Empowerment Model is a comprehensive, trauma-informed approach designed to support justice-impacted individuals as they rebuild their lives and step into stability, opportunity, and leadership. Grounded in lived experience and community-based solutions, our model guides participants through five core stages: learn, heal, work, lead, and rebuild.
The journey begins with Pathways2Purpose, an in-facility reentry planning workshop. Paired with a practical action planner, this program helps individuals prepare for release by setting goals, identifying resources, and creating a clear plan for success.
Pearl’s Place, is our safe and supportive home for women returning from incarceration. Built on the principles of the A New Way of Life Reentry Project SAFE House Model, Pearl’s Place provides stable housing and wraparound support, creating a foundation for successful reentry.
Upon reentry, participants are supported through Pathways2Peace, a trauma-informed, peer-led healing circle that offers a safe space for reflection, connection, and emotional wellness. This stage centers healing as a critical step toward long-term stability.
Participants then move into Pathways2Prosperity, our workforce development program, where they gain job readiness skills, career coaching, and support to secure meaningful employment or pursue entrepreneurship, creating pathways to sustainable income and long-term economic mobility.
Finally, Pathways2Power provides opportunities for leadership development, community organizing, and advocacy. Through this series, participants use their lived experience to influence policy, engage in civic action, and become leaders in their communities.
Together, these interconnected programs create a powerful continuum of care—supporting individuals from incarceration to independence, and from survival to leadership.
